DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith has already had a grand jury criminally indict Donald Trump for his role in the January 6th fake elector scheme. But as of today, according to multiple major media outlets, that same January 6th related grand jury is back in session.

Grand juries cannot be used to help build a case for trial after an indictment has come down; they have to be used in furtherance of more indictments and charges. This means Jack Smith is looking to bring more indictments and charges. This opens up a number of possibilities, all of them bad for Trump world.

Smith could be looking to bring additional criminal charges against Donald Trump related to January 6th. This wouldn’t be surprising at all. In fact we’ve already seen Smith do this in his classified documents case, where he’s brought two entire batches of charges against Trump. But Trump may not be the only person involved here.

Smith has already listed six co-conspirators (including Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, John Eastman, Jeffrey Clark, and Kenneth Chesebro) in his Trump 1/6 indictment. So he could be working with his grand jury to bring indictments against those six people.

There has also been prior media reporting that Jack Smith was investigating the Trump “command center” at the Willard Hotel on January 6th. So his grand jury could be targeting people who were in that room for indictment. It’s also been reported that Smith was investigating Trump’s knowingly fraudulent post-2020 fundraising.

The bottom line is that Donald Trump, and everyone around Trump who participated in any criminal plots, needs to be greatly worried right now. By rule, Jack Smith wouldn’t be putting his grand jury back into session unless he’s specifically looking at bringing additional indictments or charges against someone.
