‘The British are too big to bully!’ Farage gives tub-thumping final speech ‘we hate EU'

NIGEL FARAGE was shut off during his final speech in the European Parliament by furious EU bosses after branding the bloc "bullies" while his Brexit Party waved their Union flags.

Brexit: Farage delivers final address to European Parliament

The Brexit Party leader tore into the bloc as he unleashed his final tirade after 20 years as an MEP. He said: "A 47-year political experiment which the British have frankly never been very happy with. Not to flags anthems presidents and now you even want your own army. "I'm not particularly happy with the agreement but Boris has been remarkably bold in the last few months and Ms von der Leyen he's made it clear he's promised us there will be no level playing field and on that basis I wish him every success in the next round of negotiations. "The most significant point is what happens at 11pm this Friday marks the point of no return. Once we've left we are never coming back and the rest frankly is detail. We're going, we will be gone."

After being handed a four-minute speaking slot by his Brexit Party colleague, Mr Farage continued his tirade insisting Brexit is the beginning of the end for the EU.

He said: "What we've proved is the British are too big to bully thank goodness. I want Brexit to start a debate across the rest of the Europe what do we want from Europe do we want trade friendship reciprocate cooperation we don't need a Commission court all these institutions and all this power. We love Europe, we just hate the EU, it's as simple as that.

"I'm hoping this begins the end of this project it's a bad project it isn't just undemocratic it's anti-democratic and it gives people power without accountability people who cannot be held account by the electorate.

"It is globalism against populism and you may loathe populism but I tell you a funny thing it's becoming very popular and it has great benefits no more financial contributions no more European Court of Justice, no more Common Fisheries, no more being talked down to no more being bullied no more Guy Verhofstadt what's not to like. I know you're going to miss us I know you want to ban our flags but we're going to say goodbye."

The comments provoked furious reactions from pro-European MEPs, who branded him a "liar".

Tub-thumping Brexit Party members launched back at the politicians across the EU Parliament’s chamber in Brussels.

Amid cheers, Mr Farage's microphone was cut-off by the parliamentary vice-president chairing the debate on the Brexit deal.

As they raised Union Jacks in protest, Mairead McGuinness barked: "Sit down, put your flags away - you're leaving - and take them with you."
