Report: Former Trump adviser Carter Page bragged about ties with the Kremlin

Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page bragged about being an adviser to the Kremlin in a letter according to a new report.

The letter, obtained by TIME, was sent to an academic publishing house amid a dispute over an unpublished manuscript that he submitted for publication.

“Over the past half year, I have had the privilege to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Kremlin in preparation for their Presidency of the G-20 Summit next month, where energy issues will be a prominent point on the agenda,” says the letter from August 25th, 2013.

TIME reports that Page “sat in on and contributed to a few round-table discussion with people from around the world” that year.

He describes the meeting as quote “really plain-vanilla stuff."

“Does that make me an evil villain, as some of your sources would like to have you think?” Page told Time.

Page has been at the center of a GOP memo released Friday, that alleges the Department of Justice presented the so-called Steele dossier in order to obtain a surveillance warrant on Page.

Last year the former Trump campaign adviser testified before the House Intelligence Committee in the panel’s probe into Russia’s election interference, where he admitted he suggested the then-candidate Trump to visit Russia in the midst of the campaign.

Page has denied any wrongdoing related to Russia and has not been charged with any crimes.
