The world’s premier pot leaders are in Las Vegas and the future of the legal marijuana industry is on display at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

MJBizCon is the largest cannabis trade show in the entire world and is expecting 17,000 attendees and hundreds of businesses.

The convention is taking place just four months after Nevada started selling legal weed.

“Having this in Nevada is perfect. It’s the epicenter for this conference to get this industry together,” said Chris Walsh of the Marijuana Business Daily.

Recreational sales in the Silver State outpaced every other state that came before it – and the industry is taking notice.

“It's a hot market. People are excited about it, people are making money, they're employing people, it's helping communities and the economy,” said Walsh.

The convention floor is packed with products and companies trying to break into the multi-billion dollar industry – from surveillance and security to production and technology.

Brian Wittaker of the Paxiom Group, which is based in Las Vegas, said MJBizCon is a marketing mecca. Wittaker is using the platform to pitch the company’s state-of-the-art machinery, which weighs and packages pot.

“Really one of the big advantages of it is that it gets rid of needing humans to do somewhat is a tedious process that's time-consuming and can also be very expensive,” said Wittaker.

The convention is considered a mirror of the marijuana industry as a whole. In just five years, it has grown from a small gathering of a few hundred people in Denver to a massive marijuana meeting of thousands – with more growth on the way.

“Giving [Las Vegas] the reputation as one of the premier marijuana epicenters in the country,” said Wittaker.
