One of President Trump’s top religious advisers says the president has God’s blessing to take action against North Korea.

Robert Jeffress, an evangelical megachurch pastor who spoke at Trump’s inauguration, on Tuesday said Trump has the moral backing to “take out” the North Korean leader.

“When it comes to how we should deal with evildoers, the Bible, in the book of Romans, is very clear: God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary — including war — to stop evil,” Jeffress said in a statement.

“In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong Un.”

{mosads}Jeffress, who oversees The First Baptist Church in Dallas, told The Washington Post that he felt obligated to release the statement after Trump’s warning to North Korea to stop threatening nuclear attacks or face “fire and fury.”

The pastor cited the biblical passage Romans 13 that gives leaders the power to punish evildoers, saying it means Trump has “the authority to do whatever, whether it’s assassination, capital punishment or evil punishment to quell the actions of evildoers like Kim Jong Un.”

Jeffress, known for his anti-LGBT beliefs, has been close with Trump, posing with the president on the campaign trail and attending a rally honoring veterans in Washington last month. The choir at his church sang a song called “Make America Great Again” in tribute to Trump at the event.
